Matrox Announces Support for Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium and the Windows Vista 64-bit Operating System on Matrox Axio LE and RT.X2 Realtime HD and SD Editing Platforms

Montreal, Canada - December 17, 2008 – Matrox® Video Products Group today announced that software release 4.0 for the Matrox Axio™ LE and RT.X2™ family of HD and SD editing platforms will support the recently released version 4.0.1 of Adobe® Creative Suite® 4 Production Premium and Adobe Premiere® Pro CS4 software. In addition, the Matrox 4.0 release will make use of the expanded memory and storage management support in the Windows Vista 64-bit operating system to facilitate seamless creative workflow and efficient editing of long-form and multi-format HD projects.

"The exciting new features of Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium combined with the realtime editing capabilities of the Matrox platforms give video production professionals all the tools they need to produce top-quality HD productions - affordably, in real time, with complete flexibility - then easily deliver to tape, DVD, Blu-ray disc, and the web," said Alberto Cieri, Matrox senior director of sales and marketing. "Now with Windows 64-bit support, the Matrox platforms are more powerful and robust than ever before."

Matrox offers a full range of realtime editing engines that extend the capabilities of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and Adobe CS4 Production Premium.

The Matrox RT.X2 platforms are designed for corporate communicators, event videographers, project studios, educational facilities, and digital filmmakers. They provide maximum real-time productivity for DV projects and offer the flexibility for users to move to HDV, P2HD, and XDCAM EX at any time. The RT.X2 platforms complement the Adobe solutions by providing:

* Full resolution, full frame rate realtime editing of more layers with broadcast-quality effects such as color correction, chroma/luma keying, speed changes, 2D/3D DVE, blur/glow/soft focus, etc.
* Realtime mixed-format timelines and multicam
* Composite, Y/C, and HD/SD analog component input and output with realtime high-quality downscaling from HD to SD
* Full-resolution HD monitoring on an inexpensive flat panel display via independent DVI output
* WYSIWYG video output support for Adobe Encore, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Bridge, and Adobe Photoshop

Matrox Axio LE is designed for high-performance HD and SD editing in demanding broadcast and post-production facilities. It provides added benefits over RT.X2 including:

* Realtime editing of uncompressed 8- and 10-bit video
* Realtime native editing of Sony XDCAM, XDCAM HD, and XDCAM HD422
* Native support for additional codecs including DVCPRO HD, MPEG HD, MPEG HD422, offline HD, MPEG-2 I-frame in HD and SD, IMX, DVCPRO, and DVCPRO50
* HD/SD SDI input/output and simultaneous HD and SD output

Availability of the Matrox RT.X2 and Axio 4.0 software
The Matrox RT.X2 4.0 release will be available for download from the Matrox website free of charge on December 22, 2008. The Matrox Axio 4.0 release will be available in February 2009. Current RT.X2 and Axio customers must obtain an upgrade to the new Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 version 4.0.1 software from Adobe in order to use the Matrox 4.0 releases

Matrox 4.0 provides the following new features

Postby Support » Thu Dec 18, 2008 7:19 pm

Matrox 4.0 provides the following new features:

• Support for Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, version 4.0.1 (earlier versions of Adobe Premiere Pro are not supported).
• Support for the 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows Vista Business or Ultimate allows users to break the memory limitations of 32-bit operating systems and install more than 4 GB of RAM on their system for improved stability and performance. Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Business, and Windows Vista Ultimate (32-bit versions) are also supported.
• New DVI monitor calibration utility that turns your DVI monitor into a true-color video display for use with SD and HD video. Controls for hue, chroma, contrast, brightness, and blue-only let you adjust and control your DVI monitor exactly as you would a broadcast HD/SD video monitor. (Not applicable to RT.X2 LE or RT.X2 SD.)
• WYSIWYG support for Adobe Encore CS4 that lets you preview video played back from the timeline on your video monitor by setting the player for your project to Matrox Player (available on the Advanced page of the Project Settings dialog box).

Please note that in order to offer CS4 and Vista 64-bit support as quickly as possible, we have chosen to delay support for Matrox accelerated exports until a subsequent release. For now, exports are only supported in VFW mode. Matrox accelerated exports will be available via a custom menu shortly. This export will be performed in a modal fashion (like in CS3) so users save the setup time and disk space required to run the Adobe Media Encoder. However, they will have to wait for the export to complete in order to continue working.

We have provided two versions of release 4.0 for Matrox RT.X2:
• The Matrox 4.0 Update is a smaller download for users who are currently running 3.6 and want to stay with their 32-bit operating system. It requires you to uninstall Matrox 3.6, but you must keep the Matrox effect patterns (GFX files) from the 3.6 release. Your Matrox 3.6 effect patterns are compatible with the 4.0 software.
• The Matrox 4.0 DVD content does not require a previous version to be installed on your computer. You’ll need this full installation to install 4.0 on a Windows Vista 64-bit system.
