a solution to my "connection failed" local network error and wanted to share the fix, type on the Terminal app:

sudo rm /System/Library/Filesystems/afpfs.fs
sudo ln -s /System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/afpfs.kext /System/Library/Filesystems/afpfs.fs
